Here we have a very nice condition Olympus M1 35mm film SLR camera with Olympus M-System Zuiko 50mm F/1.8 fast prime lens. This is the early version of the OM-1, which Olympus had named the Olympus M-1. After a short production cycle, Leica demanded that the name be changed, as they felt it infringed on their branding of the M rangefinder series, including the M-1 Leica. Olympus complied and renamed the camera OM-1.

The included lens is also of the early production run, in which the naming included a reference to the M-System as marked on the lens nameplate. This combination of authentic M-1 and M-System lens is much less common than the OM equivalents. 

This camera is in very good condition, showing only minimal signs of its age. It is fully functional, and comes with a new battery installed. Film compartment, battery compartment, viewfinder, and mirror box are all clean and without corrosion or debris or damage. 

The lens is very nice cosmetically and mechanically perfect. The glass elements suffer no ailments. The lens is free of marring or fungus. It features clean filter threads, and a clean lens mount. The aperture blades are quick and snappy, free of oil with minimal signs of use. The focus ring spins with perfectly weighted fluidity and the aperture ring clicks with mechanical precision.

The original OM camera and the camera that made Olympus a legendary maker of film cameras, the M1 is just a truly amazing machine. Exceptional build quality and complete capability make it a gem in classic photography. 

This camera offers exceptional mechanical ability in an incredibly small package. Fully  manual and fully mechanical, it also provides a light meter with a swing needle in the viewfinder. This shows the photographer when the settings are correct for a proper exposure. This makes the camera ideal for beginners, seasoned pros, and those looking to learn alike.

The 50mm Zuiko lens is a perfect focal length for standard and general purpose photography, snapshots, action shooting, street photography, and portraits. The fast aperture of F/1.8 allows the shooter to create amazing bokeh when shot wide open, yielding excellent subject isolation, shallow depth of field, and those beautiful blurry balls of light we all love. Stop the lens down to smaller apertures and the optics sharpen up immediately, creating pinpoint precise images with super fine resolution.
