The lens is similarly pristine. The glass elements are free of fungus, balsam separation, cleaning marks, and haze. The aperture blades are oil free and snappy. The mount is in excellent condition with no damage and tight tolerances, and the filter threads happily and smoothly accept filters. The focus ring spins with nice weight, and the aperture ring clicks with mechanical precision.
The Nikon N2000 (sold in some markets as the F-301) was the first of Nikon's automatic film advancing SLRs. First released in 1985, it signaled a new era for Nikon in which advances in electronics and automation would become powerful assets in dominating the professional and semi-professional camera market.
This 35mm SLR camera offers automatic film loading and advancing and automatic film rewind. The built-in motor drive provides single or continuous firing modes. Maximum film advance speed is 2.5 frames per second on continuous mode, but can be as slow as 1.4 frames depending on the status of the focus/exposure locks.
Due to the versatility of its shooting modes, the N2000 is a serious machine capable of doing anything most photographers could ever ask of it. Full artistic control is balanced by the ability to automate nearly all aspects of shooting, giving the shooter the option of carefree image-making or rigid control. The F-301 can be set for auto exposure, "hi-speed" auto exposure, "dual" auto-exposure (with Ai-S type lenses) which switches between regular auto exposure and hi-speed autoexposure based on the lens attached, aperture priority, or full manual exposure modes, which allows the user to set both the aperture and shutter speeds.
The included lens is perfect for a range of shooting styles. With focussing length of 28mm, this lens is perfect for snapshots, street photography, landscapes, and any general photography. Shot wide open it creates fairly good subject isolation, and when stopped down to F/8 and above the lens becomes exceedingly sharp and crisp, producing amazingly fine detail.
The N2000 supports TTL flash exposures with a wide range of Nikon flashes.
