Here we have a beautiful and fully functional Kodak Retinette Ib with a fixed Schneider-Kreuznach Reomar 45mm F/2.8 lens. This camera is fully functional (inlcuding the metering system) and ready to produce another lifetime of fantastic photos.

All aspects of this camera work as they should. The lens is in good condition, with glass elements mostly free of fungus, haze, scratches, and separation. The leaf shutter blades actuate beautifully and are unmarred. The aperture blades are in beautiful condition.

The focus ring spins with wonderfully directed weight, and the aperture ring spins similarly with mechanical precision. All shutter speeds are accurate.

The viewfinder is clear and clean. All levers, dials, switches, and buttons work as they should. The film compartment is clean and clear, and the sprockets and spools are all excellent.

The Kodak Retinette series of cameras were manufactured in Germany for Kodak by a company founded by one of the most respected camera designers in Germany, Dr August Nagel. Nagel worked at Zeiss after Nagel's original company merged with others to form the famous Zeiss Ikon in 1919, and years later he would split to form the company that would produce Kodak's Retina and Retinette.

This model, the Ib is one of the later models, and is also one of the most compact. Its Schneider Kreuznach lens is sharp and punchy, and the inclusion of a large beautiful viewfinder makes composition and focusing fast and easy
