Here we have a beautiful and fully functional Kodak Retina Ib with a Schneider-Kreuznach Retina-Xenar 50mm F/2.8 lens. This camera is fully functional and ready to produce another lifetime of fantastic photos.
All aspects of this camera work as they should. The lens is in good condition, with glass elements free of fungus, haze, scratches, and separation. The leaf shutter blades actuate beautifully at all speeds. The aperture blades are in beautiful condition. The focus ring spins with wonderfully directed weight, and the aperture ring spins similarly with mechanical precision. All shutter speeds are accurate. All levers, dials, switches, and buttons work as they should. The film compartment is clean and clear, and the sprockets and spools are all excellent. The viewfinder is a bit dimmer than it should be, and to be perfect it should be cleaned.
The Kodak Retina Ib was manufactured in Germany for Kodak by a company founded by one of the most respected camera designers in Germany, Dr August Nagel. Nagel worked at Zeiss after Nagel's original company merged with others to form the famous Zeiss Ikon in 1919, and years later he would split to form the company that would produce Kodak's Retina and Retinette.
This model, the Ib is one of the most compact. Its Schneider Kreuznach lens is sharp and punchy, and the inclusion of a large beautiful viewfinder makes composition and focusing fast and easy.
It will be carefully packaged and shipped immediately.
