This is a fantastic and affordable general purpose camera for the amateur shooter. It will do nearly everything the average film photographer could ask of it, and it looks quite handsome at the same time. The camera is in very nice condition. The viewfinder, film compartment, mirror box, shutter, and battery compartment are all very clean and in great condition. All dials, switches and knobs click and actuate exactly as they should. The light meter works perfectly.

The included lens has a versatile zoom range from focal lengths of 35-70mm. This makes it an ideal setup for almost every kind of general purpose photography, including landscape, snapshots, action, family photos, portraits, architectural shooting, and street photography. The aperture ring clicks as it should, and the focus ring spins fluidly. The mount is pristine, and the filter threads are unmarred. The aperture blades are snappy and oil free, and the glass elements are free of any blemishes, balsam separation, cleaning marks, and fungus.

Additionally of note is the fact that this camera uses the popular K-mount lens system, meaning that many lenses from various makers can be natively mounted to the machine. These include offerings from Pentax, who made some of the best lenses of the day.

The KR-5 Super is the updated and more advanced version of the original KR-5. It features an improved shutter, allowing speeds from 1/8th of a second up to 1/1000th of a second, and an improved flash sync speed of 1/125th of a second. Bulb mode is also present, naturally.

One additional feature of this camera that is very nice is the diagonal split-image circle within the viewfinder. This makes manual focusing extremely easy, fast, and fun, a process which is also aided by the sheer brightness and size of the rather large viewfinder.
